Biography
| I’m Emily, a medical student dedicating my time to volunteering at MCARES. My research interests are rooted in women’s and children’s health, access to care, and quality improvement. Prior to medical school, I spent time as a budding elementary school teacher, which had deepened my commitment to fostering the holistic well-being of individuals I work with. While my initial journey revolved around nurturing children, I’ve come to recognize that comprehensive well-being extends beyond the child and encompasses the entire ecosystem surrounding them. It’s this realization that drives me to expand my focus and strive to foster positive influences on a broader level. Medical school training provides me with one pathway to serve this population. Research offers another avenue. What drives me is the integration of these perspectives – incorporating the voices and insights of the people we serve and work with into research for creating patient-centered and effective solutions. As a volunteer at MCARES, I can contribute to bridging the gap between clinical practice and research. With my dedicated colleagues, I aim to advance pediatric health, promote equitable access to care, and disseminate our findings for the benefit of the individuals we serve and the broader community. |
