Biography
| Oneli (she/her) is an Honours Life Sciences undergraduate student at McMaster University pursuing a Bachelor of Science, with research interests in Autism and Critical Disability Studies, with a focus on equity-driven research for underserved communities and individuals with disabilities. She is the sibling of an autistic youth, an experience that drives her commitment to creating welcoming communities for all individuals alike. As a research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Phoenix, she contributes to projects that train communication partners and facilitate self-expression in autistic children. Beyond her current projects at McMaster, Oneli is working to research how decolonial and interdisciplinary approaches can improve healthcare and educational experiences, particularly for immigrant families and neurodivergent children. Her work reflects a goal of creating spaces where neurodivergent voices are recognized and celebrated. Her long-term goal is to pursue a career in medicine, where she hopes to continue making disability care a safe and inclusive space. |
